WEAKNESS

Weakness: In is image the audience are presented with an extreme close up on a withered leaf. This image connotes weakness in many ways, one of which being the way the leaf is left completely alone on the floor, it is common when coming across a leaf to find it surrounded by several others making beautiful colours across the floor. However, this leaf is left completely alone, making it look vulnerable and weak. Not only that, but all and any colour has been washed completely out of the leaf making it appear faded and sad or almost depressed, similar to a person who may be ill, again reflecting the weakness within the image. The fact that the leaf is laying on the muddy, dirty ground, reflects on the horrible conditions around it. This may be similar to that of a homeless person who also is surrounded by dirt and filthy conditions. Due to this we can see connotations of weakness as the subject of the image is unable to draw themselves away from the unhealthy conditions they are in. In the leaf we can see several holes, this again may connote weakness as it is as if the leaf has been stabbed or hurt making it weaker and more fragile.
