POVERTY

Poverty: In this wide shot we are presented with what appears to be a young female, crouched down in the middle of the woods. Straight away we can see elements of poverty within the character placed centre left of the image. Her costume consists of a baggy grey jumper and jeans with holes in the knees. This tramp-like, unkept look is something often associated with homeless people and people with little money, this sense of homelessness is a massive convention of the word poverty. The body language of this character reinforces the theme of poverty as she is close to the floor and tucked completely into herself as if cold. The fact that she is outside, on the dirty ground and cold suggests she has no choice but to be there, otherwise she wouldn't be. The setting surrounding the character is one often associated with destitution, and strengthens the images overall sense of poverty.
